No, it isn't true. You will be sued, that I will almost guarantee you, but you won't be prosecuted. Well, at least as long as you can say that you were in fear for your life.

Dragging them in the house won't work. Forensics will tell the police where the person was when they were shot. I would go for wounding them instead of outright killing them unless there's no other way to save yourself. Here in GA, if someone is in your home and poses a threat, you have the right to defend yourself. Now you can't just shoot someone who's running out of the house with your DVD player, they have to be threatening physical harm to any persons inside the home. Say you get grabbed, you break away and stab your assailant with a knife or get your gun out of the lock box and shoot them, self defense.

If you shoot anybody in your home you can be prosecuted ragardless of the crime you didn't know that?

A guy break in your house and rapes your wife and shoot him and kill him you go to jail.

You have to prove self defense. This is how, He breaks in your house rapes your wife, you shoot the crminal and put a kitchen knife in his hands then call the Police. End Of Story

Yes, or at least in my state. If you shoot someone that is on the outside of your door, you can be prosecuted.

Yes, in most places in the US that is true. I've even been told by the police if someone is breaking in and you shoot him if he falls outside drag him in. Not really legal but it works.

i saw this on the news...some guy broke into this guy's home and the guy came home and found him and shot him to death while he was chasing him down the street...but he was prosecuted because the intruder had already left the house,so if ur gonna shoot an intruder dont do it after they have left ur property

depends on the circumstances and the state laws on breaking and entering. If the person gets hurt before they take anything then technically they still have a claim but usually an insurance policy will cover that.

Well if they break IN your house then they are in your house and they are a threat to u. So shoot them in the leg or something so u dont kill them (unless they too have a gun) and thats grounds for self defense!

I have heard this very thing, so I think it may be true in some states. I guess otherwise, there's no real proof that they tried to break into your house.

Depends on your state.... I think thats the law for most. In CO we just had something like this happen and the guy got shot on a door step.... the homeowner showed proabaly cause of the criminal and got off.
