Slander (also sometimes known as defamation of character) is when a person or entity says something untrue, stating it as fact; about you which causes harm to your reputation, money, business, product, group, company, or even government. Slander is in spoken form, while libel would be the same thing except it is published.
If you can PROVE it, you should get Lawyered-up, and sue.

it is somebody speaking words in public about you that are damaging and untrue.
if it is in writing it must be published ( given to others to see) and is called libel. not slander.
you an sue for slander to get actual damages but it is hard to prove and often the case gets you more publicity and does more damage as you must testify in court and answer many trick questions that make you look bad. better to forget it and move on.

False and defamatory information, spoken, intended to do concrete harm to you or your reputation. It is an actionable tort in a civil suit.

If it's published, it's libel.
