I think you you are trying to say that you are using the 'browser' that BT Internet include with their package. Microsoft Internet Explorer is something that isn't easy to get rid of, but you can get rid of the BT explorer, you can in fact get rid of all the software that BT give you because once your router is set up then there is no need for software to run the internet, that is unless you have a usb modem and not a router.

To uninstall anything just go to Start Menu - Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and then find BT related ones.

And if you mess it up and your internet stops working just reinstall the software from the CD. Hope this helps

You can delete IE, but you may be sorry if you do so. I have 2 hard drives, a 100gig “C” and a 60gig “D” drive. The 60 used to be the “C”, but someone downloaded a virus that kept it from operating at all. So, my friend added the 100 and made the 60 into my D drive. I deleted IE from the C because I prefer another browser where I have fewer problems with viruses. I was fine for a long time until I realized that some websites tend to malfunction unless you are using IE. One of those sites is MySpace. I also can only use Yahoo Music with Internet Explorer. I had to search my D drive for the program and drag a shortcut to my main desktop to be available when I want to use MySpace (CNN.com has the same problem). You can delete IE, but it may cause you problems if you do so and can’t get it back.

When I got this PC - I changed to BT Broadband at the same time - I downloaded the Yahoo BT Browser from the BT disk. Then oone day Internet Explorer popped up to ask if I wanted to install Version 7 or something - and then that was it - I had MAJOR problems with the PC. I went into MY COMPUTER - add remove programmes - and I uninstalled IE.

I still browse the net using BT Yahoo! Browser.

So - you do not need Internet Explorer at all - just make sure you have BT Yahoo! Browser. The icon is a small round colourfull ball (the BT logo!)

Good Luck.

Internet Explorer is an integral part of the Windows XP operating system. You cannot delete it. (Well, you CAN but it'll screw things up.) What you CAN do however, is remove the icon from your desktop and start menu without any problems. If you do this, make sure have another web broswer installed (Firefox, Opera, Netscape, AOL etc)

To remove the Internet Explorer icon from your desktop and start menu:
1: Open the Control Panel from the Start Menu.
2: Double Click "Add or Remove Programs"
3: On the left, click "Add or Remove Windows Components"
4: Scroll through the list and uncheck Internet Explorer.
5: Click OK

This will remove the Icons but leave the files that Windows needs to use.

IE 6 is part of the operating system and closely linked to Explorer (your folders!) so its not a good idea. IE7 can be uninstalled but your system will revert back tyo IE6.
You can install Firefox and Opera and choose one of those as your default browser.
And you can also get security software such as Spywareblaster if you're having problems. Theres a list of software on my 360 blog.

Don't delete Internet Explorer, no matter what, even if you have another browser. You may need it some day. Don't delete windows explorer, either.

You would have to de install ie. But why? It's not bad, and you could have problems not already there. But you can run, or install any other if you want to. Have a look at the mags and some of them have discs and tips how to do it.
