My GX150 has one 256 MB memory stick. If I add another 256 MB memory stick from a different brand/manufacturer, will the compter become slower or unstable than I replace two memory sticks of same brand/manufacturer?

Thanks.

Normally you're supposed to use chips from the same manufacturer. But in my experience due to cost constraints we've always used chips that may be from a different manufacturer. As long as you use something from crucial, PNY, or another reputible memory producer, you should be fine. We support over 700 systems and have never had an issue using memory chips that were not from the same manufacturer.

Your computer should be fine, but won't run optimally as if it were running two of the same models.

If you run a Dual-Channel memory system, though, it will be a problem. There most likely will be crashes, random freezes, and even Windows BSODs.

I'm not sure about the GX150 (Dell?) system, so I apologize for the confusion on that front.
