If I am still suffering the mental effects of a car accident that was caused by someone else almost a year ago, is it possible to sue that person? By mental effects, I mean the fact that any time a vehicle even remotely comes close to looking like it's going to enter my path of travel or run into me, I jump, get very tense, my heart rate jumps rapidly, etc. This is my third accident that has been caused by some one else, but the other two were rear-enders, and this is the only time I have ever had this reaction while driving. Anything I can do or do I just have to deal with it on my own?

It depends on the state. Three states have statutes of limitations of only 1 year and four states allow 6 years. However, the statute of limitations in most states is 2, 3 or 4 years. Contact an attorney specializing in "personal injury."

The "mental effects" you describe are difficult to prove and insurance companies usually won't offer anything to settle such claims out of court.

Every state has its own individual statute of limitations. Usually its 1 year from the date of accident. It may be as much as 3 years in some place's.

considering the amount of time thats passed and considering its a mental issue and not an easily provable physical condition (such as fracture etc). You should consult an attorney, odds are you will need one to handle this type of claim.

Check with an attorney to see what the statute of limitations are on injuries caused by an accident in your state. Laws vary in different states on a lot of things.

You would be better off talking to a doctor than a lawyer.

Suing the guy will do nothing to help your symptoms.
