Computer prices do not change much over time. There may be some extra discounts after Christmas, but only to rid of old models. You'll want a fresh model. Windows vista will not be getting significantly better over the near future. What you have to ask yourself is do you really need a new computer now, or can it wait. The longer you wait, the better the computer you can afford. There is no best time to buy a computer. I would wait a couple months though, so you don't end up with leftover computers no one else wanted.

With those specs, it's either used or overstock. You can get a newer one for $300 US (I'd add an extra $100 shipping & handling if you're buying online).

I frequently work on computers so I'm fairly experienced with prices. and a computer with that configuration should be anywhere from $450 to $600 depending on if its new or used

What do you think this is? Yahoo store? This would have to be custom built anyway. You are being too specific.
