Downloads from the web? Absolutely! You are inside a private network, and the worksation you are using doesn´t have direct access to the internet. It acceses the internet through a gateway/proxy. The proxy machine makes all the web pages requests and downloads for you, and then sends the data back to you. No need to say, all this activity is logged...

New laws went into effect in 2006 requiring all traffic on major companies networks to be recorded for use in discovery portions of a trial in the event that the company is ever sued. This includes email, sites visited, and even phone records. If you're downloading stuff at work, it may not be initially recognized, but there is usually a record of that activity in some form.

In some companies, a network administrator may catch you by monitoring the flow of data going across the network. If you are suspected of unlawful or work inappropriate activity on your work system, it would not be out of place for the company to request access to your station.

If you're downloading music, movies, etc; then there are ways for 'third parties' to trace what you are downloading and where you're downloading to, so I would err on the side of caution.

The question you need to ask youself is "Is anyone going to care enough to look and see what I've been doing."

Anything, and I do mean ANYTHING you do on the internet can be viewed by someone else, if they know what they're doing and look in the right places.
