I agree with the above, and also if she on your insurance take her off.

To be honest nothing you say will make her slow down, but maybe getting caught by a speed camera or the police will make her think twice next time

I'm afraid it's scare tactics time, there's numerous ways, if she's on your insurance either threaten to remove her cover, or warn her if anything happens, she's paying the extra when the NCB's gone! Or remind her, being a new driver, that for the first 2 years if she gets 6 points or more, she'll get a ban and be ordered to retake her test. The more extreme way I suppose is to teach her a lesson in your car when she is driving hers ( Ride her bumper or do something to highlight she is not ready to take Vicki Butler-Hendersons place just yet!), the purpose of which is to bring her down a peg or two, she sounds too cocky and frankly an accident waiting to happen, but if you choose this option, please, use your savvy to avoid an accident yourself or attracting the attentions of the police! Got to be cruel to be kind sometimes!

Is she aware that if she gets 6 points on her licence within her 2 year probation she will have to re-take both of her driving tests again? I was the same when I first passed, I was like 'well I've passed my test so no one can tell me how to drive'. Then I seriously thought about it and if I got caught speeding 2 times that was me without a licence! I didn't want to go through the tests again, so I 'screwed the heid' and slowed down!

Oh the arrogance of youth eh? Sometimes you can talk 'til you're blue in the face, and she'll bat you off, she's a great driver, she won't have an accident. blar blar blar blar blar!!!

It would be nice to bolt the barn door before the horse bolts, but if your horse is going to kick it down anyway...

As people above say, if it's your car, or insurance, you can stop it dead in it's tracks, but if it's all her own, it's hard, like all kids she'll think she's indestructible and master of the universe, and you can't tell her anything worth knowing.

You have my sympathy, but I don't have an answer, I'm afraid. I wish you luck, but you know your daughter best, you know how to stop her better than any of us.

Tell her that by driving at 40 miles per hour you will get to your destination (6 miles away only about two minutes earlier), than if you were driving at 30 miles per hour. (So leave 2 minutes earlier and drive at 30 miles per hour.) If you hit a pedestrian at 40 miles per hour, they are most likely to be killed or very seriously maimed.

Driving at 30 miles per hour, hit a pedestrian, they will more likely live.
Not to mention the speed cameras and penalty points on driving license. 12 points = automatic disqualification. Try and get insured after disqualification. Not cheap. Sometimes information lands on deaf ears, hopefully she won't have to learn the hard way.

When I was a lot younger I got stopped by the police for speeding. I was told this: "If you have an accident at 70mph, there's a good chance you'll survive. If you have an accident at 80mph, you'll be hurt but you'll probably live. If you have an accident at 90mph, I'll be scraping bits of you up off the tarmac for the next couple of hours."

I wasn't charged with speeding but those words are engraved in my memory.

I watched a 19 year old girl in court get 30 days in jain suspended and put on probation for a year becaues it was her 3rd time getting a speeding ticket. Her dad was happy when she recieved this sentence, she left crying so loudly it echoed the court.
Hopefully she gets a few speeding tickets that you will make her pay herself and her insurance goes up and she has to pay that too, that'll slow her down.

Ask the local road safety officer to lend you the photographs of fatal car accidents complete with victims who are mainly 19-23 year olds.

They make very sober viewing!

Wait until she gets caught on a few speed traps and cameras that will teach her a lesson. These laser cameras catch you up to a mile away, by the time you have spotted them it's too late.

I could tell her about the woman that I saw run over by 3 cars,
None of them stopped, and a certain part of her body came off,
That might make her think twice
