I'v had this ford ranger for 5 yrs now and never had this problem til this year.It can be really cold outside no problem but...get down to freezing temp.then the back wheels freeze.I work nights and one night I got in truck and would not go forward or backwords.I messed with it 2 hrs.nothing finally I called my father in law and he said throw boiling water on the inside on the back wheels,might be the brake line,I did this and it broke free.It is freezing temp.again.I don't want to do this 2am every morning.My job consists of driving all night so it don't freeze then but I need to go to town and get grocoery's w/kids and I don't want to come out of store and have wheels froze up again.What can I do?Why is my wheels freezing up.Is it the brake line?Is there something I can spray on the inside of wheels to stop this.I'm a female that has no idea how to work on truck.Thanks for your help!!

This is a guess, but there may be moisture in the lines that freezes and expands, locking the brakes. flush and refill the brake fluid.

Over time, moisture builds up in your brake fluid from condensation.

Paul and Ctlyle could both be right. Flush the brake lines to get all the old goop out and check the brake drum on the side toward the middle of the car. There should be a hole there for adjusting the shoes, and if someone left the rubber plug out you could be getting a lot of water in there.

Brake shoes are probably freezing to drum. Try not setting parking brake,if you must use parking brake then before you park hold pressure ob brake pedal to warm shoes and drums and dry them.If there is any road spray or moisture it will cause shoes to freeze to drums.If they are warm they will dry before freezing.
