Some can. Hermaphrodites by birth have the characteristics of both genders, but usually one is dominant. Such as a person being born completely female, but has the external genitals of male. That does not mean their inner sexual organs are the same. It is quite possible that a female born with some male characteristics would still be capable of having children. Although it would most likely be more complicated than normal.. It's almost possible now for an MtF transsexual to conceive.. So I'd say it's very likely a born-hermaphrodite could.

I'd probably pick a name like Valentine, Ellery or Ellis. I know they're technically boy's names, but many old fashioned male names have a fancy quality that I think may suit a girl today. Whereas modern unisex names like Ryan, Logan and Emerson sound very masculine, a name like Valentine actually sounds more feminine to me, even though it's a boy's name. So, I think it would get the balance between being masculine enough for a boy and feminine enough for a girl. I'd name him/her something like... Ellery Quinn Ellis Taylor Ellis Valentine Valentine Quinn I also love the name Tegan for a girl. I like that spelling best because it's a Welsh female name, whereas Teagan is Irish and traditionally male. But I guess Tegan would be ok for a boy, or Teagan for a girl. Tegan Valentine Teagan Ellis I don't usually like nicknames as full names, but I may just name him/her Sam or Alex, and then they can start using a full name version when they get older and choose their gender. I love Samuel, Samantha, Alexandra and Alexander, so any of those would be fine. Hmm... I'm not fully happy with any of the names though. It would be a difficult decision! Something to think about before I have a baby, I guess!

Hm, that's an interesting question. I totally agree about your breakdown of your feelings about unisex names. It's very hard for me to come up with names that I would personally feel comfortable naming a girl or a boy. There are some nicknames I wouldn't mind, like Andy, Alex, Sam/Sammie or Charlie, but their full names are definitively a male or female name, so I wouldn't feel right about that. And I HATE when people want to use a nickname as their full first name. Ugh. So, that being said, as much as I hate popular/trendy names, the only ones I can think of that I would truly feel comfortable naming a girl or a boy would be Cameron, Reese, Logan or Jordan. Oh, and Tristan... if she chose to go with her female gender, we could always call her Trista if she wanted.

Yahoo.com would be a much more reliable source of information, as well as Google and Wikipedia. I've unfortunately seen one too many VERY Wrong answers on here regarding a variety of topics. Just remember to check a few different sources before announcing anything that you'd call a fact and you should be alright. Happy Searching!

TRUE
A person born with both ovary and testicular tissue, this could be 2 seperate gonads ( one of each) or a combination of both in one (an ovotestes). The genitalia can vary from completely male or female, to a combination of both or even ambiguous looking. The chromosome (karotype) compliment can be XX (female), XY (male), XX/XY (mosiac) or even XO (extremely rare). Those XX with female genitalia are raised female ( some have even given birth). Those XY with male genitalia are raised male ( a few have fathered children). The children born XX/XY or XO (with genitalia male or female are raised in the sex they look most like) ,Those born with ambiguous genitalia have many medical tests for the doctors to determine which sex they should be assigned. Doctors then recommend early surgery to make the child look physically like the sex assigned to them.

Yes, but it's not exactly extremely common.
