On April 8, 1994, Cobain was discovered in the spare room above the garage (referred to as "the greenhouse") at his Lake Washington home by Veca Electric employee Gary Smith. Smith arrived at the house that morning to install security lighting and saw him lying inside. Apart from a minor amount of blood coming out of Cobain's ear, Smith reported seeing no visible signs of trauma, and initially believed that Cobain was asleep. Smith found what he thought might be a suicide note with a pen stuck through it beneath an overturned flowerpot. A shotgun, purchased for Cobain by Dylan Carlson, was found at Cobain's side. An autopsy report later concluded Cobain's death was a result of a "self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head." The report estimates Cobain to have died on April 5, 1994.

On April 8th 1994 Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of Nirvana, was found dead in his Seattle home of an apparent shotgun wound to the head and with three times the lethal amount of heroin in his system. A note lay at the scene. The verdict was suicide. Others are skeptical.

He had been using heroine before his death however this has nothing to do with it. Kurt tried commiting suicide in March, but didnt succeed and entered rehab just to get out after only 2 days and set into the seattle underworld where he bought the gun. A week later (April 8th 1994) he was found dead at his home in a small room above the garage by a self inflicted gun shot on the head where he is said to have died April 5th. It is reported as suicide, but many people think it was actually murder or just as your friend an overdose.
Try reading 'Heavier than Heaven' or specially ' Love and Death' it follows his death and the suspiscion of foulplay or overdose

Kurt Cobain's cause of death was by a self inflicted gun wound. Yes, drugs were involved, but they were not the direct cause of death. There is also a conspiracy theory that he was murdered and it made to look like suicide. If that sort of thing interests you, you can check out http://www.cobaincase.com/

He was depressed and took drugs all the time. Eventually he shot himself with a shotgun. So yes, he was on drugs, but the physical cause was self inflicted gunshot.

TO MANY DRUGS! (i think)

His death has an impact even to this day. One such impact is the belief his death is the result of foul play.

The following are but a few of the claims made to support a murder theory.

Kurt didn't appear suicidal or appear to go through withdrawal. Remember, Kurt was in a therapeutic setting. He committed suicide when he left this setting.

Kurt's Coroner cannot prove it was suicide, and he had triple the lethal amount of Heroin. This cannot be proven or disproved; law seals these records.

He shot himself. If he hadn't, he probably would have died of an overdose at some point. I know there were talks about it not being a real suicide, but they never really investigated it.

If I were married to Courtney Love, I'd shoot myself in the head too.

It was a shotgun. No one knows if he killed himself or if Courtney Love killed him.
