Do I have to have my BT DSL Modem AND my belkin wireless router connected to my computer?

Hi there.

I have bradband with BT at the moment. and today i bought a Belkin F5D7632 wireless router and ADSL modem all in one package. I have tried setting up my Wireless network and my laptop receives the wirless connection. only problem is that when i connect to that Wireless network, when i open IE6, it says the page cannot be displayed.

The DSL light on my belkin router if flashing and not permannelty on which means it is negotiatiiong a connection.

What is wrong? I thought it might be that im nto meant ot have 2 (A)DSL modems at once.

If your Belkin Router is a combined ADSL Modem and Router, you don't need to use yout BT modem. Indeed you can only have one ADSL modem connected to the phone line at a time.

Your new Belkin router & ADSL modem replaces your existing BT ADSL modem.

You should connect a pc to the LAN socket on the router (using an ethernet RJ45 cable) to set up your router.

You will connect the phone line, via the adsl filter to the line (smaller) socket on the router/ADSL modem.

You will need the settings that BT gave you to setup the internet side (WAN) side of the combined router/modem.

There will be a setup disc with the router - use this to configure and set up the router/ADSL modem.

I would suggest you use one modem for this connection if you are only connecting one computer to the Internet.
Secondly make sure you carry out the installation properly,try un-installing your connection and carry out a fresh installation attentively.

whilst coping with port forward for something it is not that undesirable. Dont mess with your IP shape...which will purely mess you up online and reason greater grief.
