I'm a writer, and I want to know how and where can I find a publisher to publish my upcoming novel. Specific answers, please, and it'd be great to have links and company names.

First of all, before you send your book out for consideration by a publisher, be sure that you register the manuscript with the Library of Congress. You can do this by going online to the Library of Congress Copyright Office Website at: http://www.copyright.gov/. On that site, you can download the registration form, fill it out, print it out and mail it into the Library of Congress along with the registration fee and a copy of the manuscript. This will protect your rights of ownership in the work.

Many publishers today do not accept unsolicited manuscripts; that is, manuscripts that have been sent directly to them by an author. Some publishers will accept manuscripts directly from an author, but only if you will send them a query letter first. A query letter consists of a brief summary of the manuscript, sometimes a brief summary of the principal characters, and a formal request to determine if the publisher or agent would be interested in reading the material. The addresses of book publishers are readily found on the Internet.

Most publishers prefer to have a manuscript sent in by a literary agent who represents the author. You may seek out a literary agent online and follow their instructions for sending manuscripts to them. Most agents request a query letter before sending the manuscript.

Be prepared in that it is a time-consuming process, and it often involves rejection of a manuscript many times before it is finally accepted by a publisher. You may also wish to submit your work to an online publisher, which you may seek out on the Internet as well; however, this will often involve a fee for publishing, but often enough, the royalties from online publishers are higher than those from standard publishers, at least for new authors. It's totally your choice as to what direction you would like to go: online publishing or standard.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Best I can do is say go to Borders (etc.) and ask. I got my wife a book there that had about 10,000 places with every detail you could want (just about) and it had a website for the constant updates as editors get shifted/quit/die/whatever and other details change. Included book AND magazine information.

"Writers Market Online" (It was the 2004 edition.)

She's not published yet but that's not the book's fault. She just needs to apply herself to finishing... even on a crappy computer! (Sorry, she reads my answers sometimes and I had to put this in.)

a million, Write 2. Edit 3. Edit lower back. 4. undergo an agent. 5. Edit some extra. 6. The agent submits to publishers. 7. If a writer accepts it, edit lower back. How long and editor takes relies upon on his workload. yet i'm guessing you propose "agent", not "editor". extra suitable than possibly, you would be doing those edits your self.
