why does the iphone have to cost so much?

it seems that the majority of technology out there is creating a larger divide between the haves and have nots. everything from cable tv, satellite tv, cell phones, etc. are increasing as salary increases remain the same. a 400.00 cell phone? why? could apple not make a profit if the phone was sold for 99.00 for three weeks after its opening day? or what makes it sell for 400.00? components hard to find, radical new elements used that can only be retrieved from the moon?

well it's not in every phone u find a MAC OS X processor,3.5" touchscreen that recognises if u didn't mean to touch it,motion sensors in camera 'n call mode(it's a long story but in camera mode,it switches automatically to landscape when u hold d fone horizontally...)plus an iPOD(yep,d phone's got a mini iPOD in it)'n finally it comes in 4GB 'n 8GB hard drive...u can view web pages like on a PC,music quality's gonna be awesome(apple iPOD)...
