I don't know what is wrong and I already cleans the leans with a disk cleaner and emptied the hard drive and I don't know what else to do! Someone help! I need to play GTA! This is kind of a known issue with the original XBOXs. I've known plenty of people who've had this same issue. And the only fix I know of is to have it sent in and fixed. Unfortunately, unless you have an extended warranty, it doesn't seem likely that you'll be able to send in your XBOX to have it fixed for free. Your best bet is to probably go down to GameStop or EBGames or one of those kinds of stores, and buy a used XBOX. Both the stores I mentioned have a pretty good policy on those used equipment/games. But it really sounds like your XBOX has had it. Luckily, the prices of used XBOX systems should have dropped a little since the introduction of all the new "next-gen" systems. Either that or E-Bay. Good luck.

Well, mine did the exact same thing. I think Microsoft has a special warranty campaign (free of charge) if you are out of the standard warranty time-line. This has been a problem for many people. Still a good system though, don't let this discourage you.

The lens needs to be cleaned. You may need to take the xbox apart (this WILL void the warranty) and use compressed air or alcohol to clean the lens. I have had to do this several times. It will eventually get worse and may need to be sent back to Microsoft to be repaired.

Okay...I would first ensure that the unit is not overheating. That can cause some read problems. Check the fans, make sure that there is enough room around the unit so that it can give off its heat. That should help.

the laser might have something on it. think about this, we have a scanner and there was something on the front, so when it scanned a document, there would be a blank spot where the little smudge is. So i'm thinkin the laser is dirty. hope that helps.

These gaming systems aren't ment to last forever. You can take it in somewhere to get it fixed but it really isn't worth it.

Get one on ebay. It will be cheaper. I am starting to get this periodically as well. I think it is the optics not being able to read like it should.
