I don't agree with the death penalty full stop so no I don't think he should have been executed. I don't care what somebody has done, nobody has the right to take human life and just because he did it to other people, doesn't make it right to do it to him.

Plus, I think he should have been made to live out his punishment and to die a weak, pathetic old man rather than being able to be to held up by his followers as a martyr.

Well, "the evil men do leave after them"! However, Saddam Hussein's execution would only be just if all his Western supporters, who knew what Saddam was allegedly doing, provided Saddam with the tools to continue his activites, all perish with Saddam Hussein -

Therefore, I would also like to see all of Saddam Hussein's original Western supporters and croonies: George Bush senior, Donald Rumsfeld and his pals, Thomas Gage - Tony Blair and his imperialistic British bunch, Francis Smith - George Bush junior (for unnecessarily sacrificing the lives of innocent civilians), Dick Chenney and, perhaps, passive Colin Powell all perish with Saddam Hussein!

Oh, by the way, I do not believe the being that was captured in a cave and later executed was indeed Iraq's president Saddam Hussein.

you know, regardless of the things that he did,I don't believe in the death penalty at all.i just think that it is quite barbaric, the way the that whole thing is gone about, and that goes for death row inmates and capital punishment on the whole..It may have been better for him to just stay locked up for the rest of his life? But then ,who would be paying for that,Taxpayers, that's who. Saying that ,from the other side of the coin ,is the relatives/and the people that he murdered all those years ago,and thinking about the suffering of the people he ruled over for the time that he did. There will never be an ethical answer to this question?

Bongo bongo land has a very different view of how it should be governed compared to how we think we should be governed in the West.
Mr Hussein was apparently surprised that the USA felt they had to invade Iraq. He genuinely could not understand why he couldn't run "his" country the way he did (according to his American medic). Different cultures do, do things differently.
He should not have been killed, he was in custody, and of no danger to anyone (personally).
I have to pay him respect for the manner he conducted himself during his execution, far better than the voyeurs.

I would have shot him when I found him in the hole. He was still ruling and doing terrible things when he was locked up. Just because someone is in a prison doesn't mean they don't have contact with the world outside. He was still very powerful. He was also not a sane person, which makes death a must.

So he went to hell thinking he was a good person, we should have made him see what he'd done instead, all we've accomplished is another wasted life.

I have to agree with sydb. He did kill a good portion of his people, but atleast the region was stable with him there. And he was killed for revenge of trying to kill good ol' Georgie's daddy 15 years ago. Second good ol' Georgie wants his hands on Saddam's oil rich Arab country so he could increase the size of his bank account and wallet.

I believe he got away easy! for what all he did.....i believe in the death penalty! but in his case....they should of kept him in a dark hole somewhere....or Pelican Bay Pen, in general population. People like him prefer to die, it's an honor to them! He should of been kept alive and constantly humiliated....that would of been a greater punishment for him than death!

He was a very evil man and it is a shame we can only hang him once.

i think that he was a horrible man for killing all those people and the other things he done. i have seen the video in which he was hanged and i heard him mentioned his gods name he is a "muslim" reason why i have put muslim into speech marks is that islam is meant to be a religion of peace towards any person not based on religion and in islam it is believed everyone is equal so its "one life for one" however I think it isnt any right for any human to kill only god can judge!
