Most likely on trees,away from industrial polluted areas.Lots of lichen on west coast of Ireland.Very little or none in eastern Europe,where prevailing winds carry pollution.You may find some on roof tops but unlikely on pavements,in western areas.

lichen tends to grow better on trees, but good air quality is required, in WW2 roofs were sprayed with manure in rural areas to help speed along growth on lichen for camoflage.
