According to the law, you have no expectation of privacy when you're in a public place, so it is legal for anyone to photograph you, including the government.

Exactly what rights are you talking about being violated? The park is a public place, and the Supreme Court ruled years ago that you have "no reasonable expectation of privacy" in a public place.

You don't like cameras in the park, then don't go there. As for me, I love the idea...criminals hate cameras, so they make the park a safer place.

In public? Absolutely not, it's security. If you're raped/robbed/mugged in a park, you would like to think that the person who did it was caught on CCTV. It's much the same as having cameras in banks, post offices, shops, on our streets. It's a public place where the camera, if not always a deterrent, will give a better chance of catching criminals.

supreme court said "no expectation of privacy" in a public park,so you don't like it,don't go to the park! As for me,I think cams would make the park safer,if the law enforcement is watching(they could also catch the freaks filming the kids and others)

It's the people who cant behave themselves which is against your rights to go to the park in safety. If a member of your family or yourself were attacked, or someone grabbed your child you would be grateful for the cameras.

No. It is a public place and camera's are allowed to keep track of unlawful activity in the park. Your home is your own safe haven from peeping cameras.

Think of all the rapes, jumping's and the like that can or would be solved with the use of such a system. Mind you if you are a druggie who likes to hang out in parks and do his or her thing well then yeah I guess it suck to be you. Overall this is an excellent Idea.

No. I don't think it should be against the law for me to tape my daughter at play in the park. People who do things in public parks that they don't want taped are the ones who should have no rights.

Video surveillance has become way more that just an annoyance now, every Joe Blow probably has his house wired to see what their family are doing, what tradesman are doing, etc. You add what government [BIG BROTHER], from the local level to the federal level are doing to spy on its citizens, you wonder if you are still in America, Land of the Free, and have any rights left.

I take it you're talking about government/police CCTV rather than you filming people for your pleasure!

If you're not doing anything wrong what does it matter? I'd rather them be there so if anything bad does happen, there's evidence of it. I think the only people that should worry are dirty old men in macs and chavs up to no good who should be at work or doing national service rather than wasting tax payers money on getting high!

yes and no, yes because people seems to think the park is a great place to commit crimes, rapes, killings, all kind of sex acts.
i also believe that a person should be able to go to the park and other places without an audience.
