Well, I personally think that they always have a shot at the Big Ten because it isn't that strong of a conference. That's why it was possible for that young defense to go undefeated. Once they actually saw a tough team they lost. So do they have a shot at the Big Ten? Yes. Will they win the Big Ten? No. Will they even have a prayer at the national title? No.

Boo Michigan, hooray Beer!

I think it's a rebuilding year and Buckeyes will 'flounder' to #3-4 Big Ten saved by great coaching and a rebuilding conference.

I'm still pi**ed over the Florida game which exposed the Buckeyes as 1-dimensional (ala Ginn) - where did our Heisman Trophy winner with legs and a gun go? :(

Have you seen that commercial where the dude on the blind date with the Michigan girl and jumps out of the moving car and yells 'Go Buckeyes' - lovin it!

I am a OSU fan and they should still be alright because they are returning most of the players from a solid defense including Laurinitas and Jenkins and they have some young offensive studs who will be getting lots of time. They are players such as Chris Wells, Brian Robiskie and Brian Hartline. The other reason why they should still be in contention for the Big Ten is that it is a very weak conference and the Buckeyes only play Big Ten teams and local schools besides Washington who isn't very good. They can be decent and only lose 2 - 3 games next year.

People said the same thing last year, after they lost the better part of the defense, to the NFL. They will be okay. For receiver they have Small (rumored to be faster than Ginn), Robiskie (made a few good catches this year), and Hartline (also had some good catches). They will be better at RB, they have Chris "Beanie" Wells (bigger, stronger, faster, and smarter than Clarrett). QB is still up for grabs they have Boeckman (he played a little, didn't look bad) and a freshman (can't remember his name) that may take the job from Boeckman. Defense usually takes care of itself at Ohio State, they breed defenses at Ohio State (don't rebuild, just reload).

They have a chance in the Big 10. Their 2nd and 3rd stringers are probably as good as the average big ten team starters. It seems every year that Mich. and OSU have a chance whether they are rebuilding are not.

I figure the favorite is obviously Michigan, 2nd Wis and 3rd OSU.

I don't think OSU has much of a chance to win a NC. You could probably get 30 to 1 odds or higher in vegas.

They will be ok OSU never has a terrible year and they will always have a decent group of players starting look at last year everybody thought they were done after losing Carpenter and hawk and out of no where thier defense got even better. As much as I hate to admit it the buckeyes will be ok.

GO Big Blue

It seems too early to count them out. Last year they lost most of their starters on defense(including top picks Aj Hawk and Bobby Carpenter) yet they still were able to build there defense this year to one of the tops in the country. You named four people they're losing but you don't seem to understand that most great college teams lose a bunch of players to the nfl. Nobody lost more stars in one year than the '01 Hurricanes yet they were able to make the Natl' Title game the year after.

They are toast in the Big 10 next year. Don't forget they have to play Wisconsin next year as well as Big Blue. OSU is not going anywhere but down.
