Don't try it! Gerbils are very territorial and protective. If you already have two gerbils together they will try to kill the newcomer. If you buy more than two males or females at the same time and they always live together they'll be fine, but you can't introduce a new gerbil after you have had them for a while.

Depends, I have 2 male gerbils in a ten gallonaqaurium and they are fine. I got them when they were under 2 months old and they were fine, they even sleep curled up next to each other in their hideout. Though I dont know, they might be brothers, they look alike. So I guess if you put them in when their young, they are fine.

I believe if there are only two males it would be fine, but if there is a female they will fight each other.
