At the age of fourteen I'd say you might have to fit in with the crowd... fourteen year olds are horrible (no offence, but I'm sure you know what I mean), they bully you for wearing the wrong clothes or saying the wrong things.
Your real life starts when you leave school, then you can become who you want to be and never see anyone from school again. As long as you don't start bullying others or changing yourself too much then just conform, it'll hurt less.

Be your own person your entire life. The only time you need to try to fit in is probably when you go for a job interview!! Individuality is important but then again that words now a days is getting too widely spread with all the Emo/Goth/Punks around who all believe "they are individual" so if you are refering to this, then look inside yourself and ask, is that really YOUR OWN PERSON, is that what you owuld be doing if the trend wasnt in at the moment? good luck, and dont let anyone tlel you who to be (unless its ur nan and u know if ur good she'll give u $10 haha)

When you're 14 it feels like you should fit in, that you're nothing if you don't. But in a few years when you go to college you'll be so happy if you have maintained your individuality. You'll be so much more proud of yourself and have so much more confidence if life if you just be who you are. Otherwise when you're in your twenties you'll be searching to find out who you really are because you've spent 10 years trying to fit in by being someone else.

Be an individual, be yourself. You're great just as you are! Screw the idiots in highschool that say you have to fit the plastic mold. Those are the people who are going to be lonely later in life.

At 14 (or 94) it is always best to be yourself....that does not mean that it is EASY.
On the other hand do not go against the crowd just for the sake of proving your individuality. The crowd is not ALWAYS wrong.

Being your own person is more important at any age. You do need to be able to communicate and coexist peacefully with the masses, for the most part, but individuality is critical to your own happiness and to maximizing your potential for personal growth and success. It allows for creativity and more critical thinking than just going with the flow.

Besides, hanging with the crowd can often get you into trouble...

Being true to yourself is the most important thing. If you try to fit in by being something you are not, you will either quickly be found out and back to square one or be led into something that you would never have dreamt of doing.

If you are true to yourself and people see that, they will want to be your friend. If they don't see it, that's their problem. They are the loser, not you.

Try joining some after-school clubs like football or computers or whatever. You will meet like-minded people and you will have someone round school who you recognise and can speak to.

Good luck anyway. :-)

Be individual, don't be a sheep, it is good for you in the long run! I always was into the things that interested me when I was 14 , didn't give a damn whether they were cool or not, took stick about it, but I just said f*ck em'! I still had friends who were similar in their thinking! One advantage to this was the wrong un's largely left me alone, because I wasn't one of the in crowd, I was a match for them anyway if they did want to start something. If theres peers trying to get you into things you don't want get into, be strong in your mind and resist, I never, ever bowed to peer pressure, and still don't! Don't worry about being unpopular, I'd far sooner be unpopular than get myself into trouble or get hooked on something! Friends like that aren't worth it, tell them to go and f*ck themselves, you'll make new ones!

I would use the developing maturity you are showing and fit in where you see fit.
Dont be a teenage monster because someone else has problems and wants to do drugs , steal cars etc etc etc..... if you see this as your destiny change your company. Ask yourself if you would be happy in your parents home if it was you who has earned it........... if you would like to better it then you have reached a mature desision . Get some exam results and look forward to a wonderful future. :O)

when i was 14 i always tried to fit in, but never quite succeeded... which was terrible at the time. but as i've grown up i've come to find that the most interesting people i've met have never fitted in either. and all those girls i wanted to accept me back then are stuck back in my old small town. they have become addicted to fitting in to the point that they have no independence and don't want to chance branching out just in case they have to start thinking for themselves. so, on hindsight, i wish that when i was 14 i had embraced my individuality and realised how much and how well it was going to serve me in the future.
so thats all i can say, but you decide whats best for you.

walk tall. do and wear what you want.

Never follow the crowd my friend, because when you grow up what advice you will give to your children if they are following the wrong crowd??? If you are follower your self esteem is too low, try to be your self always, in a long road it will start to give you a lot of confidence!!
