The lady at the pet store told me my baby convict was a female because of the orange on her sides. Will this color ever go away? It is very consuming on her back side. She is a white "painted" pink convict cichlid. Will she ever turn solid white with the pink head and gills or will she always show orange?

She is showing orange because she is ready to mate. Her orange will fade as she comes out of breeding season

The Pink convict is a color variant of the regular convict. The orange on females bellies and sides tends to be more vibrant when courting a male. If you have her with a male, separate them, and the orange might fade, but I would guess that it stays since her body color is so light already. If she is the only fish you have, the orange will probably remain what it is.

she will always show the orange that is one of the signs that she is a "she" if you want a solid white/pink you should have a male but even then you are likley to end up with some color.
