jim, he is a self proclaimed libertarian, and you don't get more conservative than that. he mocks this administartion, very much NOT conservative. Also the reason many erroneously label me as a liberal...just because i believe in freedom first

If the Iraqi people hand out anything to our troops it won’t be decorative flowers to celebrate a greater number of them contributing to our incursion into Iraq. If anything they will be dispensing more IED, RPGs, and any other acronym that is synonymous with death and destruction.

More than likely the 20, 000 troops that will add to the already ineffective number that is there will be ignored by the part of the Iraqi population that is not part of the insurgency. They, unlike a lot of our electorate, have the sense to know that 20,000 more troops will not be able to secure an entire country, any better than the already insufficient number of 130,000. This is just as much a sham political token as the so-called “free elections” were in that country.

The American experiment in Iraq has been an abject failure, and we have instilled in the few previously optimistic Iraqis who supported the invasion in the beginning, with a deeply hostile cynicism.

By the way Stephen Colbert's political humor, on his show the Colbert Report, is geared to mock conservative pundits like Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and the like. Far from extolling their creed, Colbert parodies them, just to show how asinine they really are. Look at his interview on 60 minutes and you will see what I am talking about.

If you think Colbert is a conservative, you are a fool. He is mocking conservatives! Can't you tell...he says the most asinine things just to make his point - that conservatives are total nut jobs!

EDIT: I am pretty sure the libertarian thing is a farce too....he IS a comedian. Isn't it (the joke at the expence of the libertarian party) just a play on the whole legalization issue?

Most Iraqis don't want us to leave. In fact, some have said the Iraqis depend on us too much!
