Yes, the original GSM SIM cards were credit card sized. Then they moved to the new SIM card size as a push out piece in a credit card size piece of plastic so you could use them in both old and new phones. Finally, they abandoned the surrounding plastic.


If you wanted to use the new size in the old phone, then you'd need to find a discarded credit card SIM card and somehow glue in your new SIM
