Some people are willing or able to car pool, some are not. It might be because of their work schedules, work and/or residence locations, or just personal preference.

Some people work off hours, some do not live close to coworkers. Others are not willing to extend their structured work day to their commute. If you carpool, you are looked into a set time (no overtime). You go directly to work, and directly home, with no side trips for errands. You also have to either invite others into your vehicle, or be a guest in someone else's vehicle.

I am not willing to adapt to others schedules. If I want to stop for a cup of coffee in the morning, I can. If I want to stop at the hardware store on the way home, I can! If I want to have the window open, I can.

Free people make choices that fit their needs, wants, and desires. Some are willing to carpool. Some actually enjoy it!

I will pay what it costs to drive alone!!

If people really wanted to car pool, they would find a way. There would be some inconveniences, but they could be worked out. The government is trying to force people to car pool, but it ain't working. Nothing wrong with carpooling, just don't force me to do it. last time I looked, this is still a free country. If you want to drive by yourself, that is your right.

Fortunately, I work at home. Carpooling is an excellent idea, but not many folks want to sacrifice their total freedom in matters of transportation. If they get off 30-minutes early, they want to get home - not wait until the ride is ready.

No, but you can walk, or ride a bike. Better for the environment that way, and you do save money.
