Sweeney Todd is AMAZING; the song "Epiphany" with it's transition from anger to madness and it's amazing musical score is my favorite from the show. Has some comic relief songs, too; "A Little Priest" is dark but brilliantly pun-y.

Little Shop of Horrors (comedy)
In Austin, TX, a local theater just produced Z: A Zombie Musical or something like that. It was a small original show, and I think it was a comedy, but just putting it out there.

The Medium (a one-act opera by Menotti, but horrifying nonetheless. A fabulous plot.)

I saw Evil Dead the Musical in October, but it's a comedy. As are Little Shop and Bat Boy. (All of which are fantastic musicals.)
I think the best you'll get is something like Dracula, but you're right; it's a very small genre.
