No one act will stop terrorism. Even if we nuked the entire middle east, there would be others around the world who would take up arms against us. Profiling won't do anything because it assumes that the terrorist will only use aircraft or public transportation for attacks.

By providing genuine leadership and peace to regions most afflicted by poverty, lack of prosperity, geographic barriers, and radical ideology. Of course, this will entail the Middle East. It's not about forcing beliefs and ideas on a group of people. It about leading the horse to the water and convincing it that drinking is the only way to survive.
