Basically because anyone can grow it and it can be grown almost anywhere, therefore the government can't tax it like they can alcohol and tobacco.

If the feds were smart, they'd decriminalize it and tax the corporations that would take over the production of it. There would still be those who grow their own, just as there are those who brew their own beer and wine, etc., but most people would just go out and buy it.

This would take billions of dollars out of the hands of gangs overnight.

If I recall correctly the British Lung Foundation say that smoking one joint of Cannabis has the equivalent of qty 3 x cigarette toxins and poisons - not everyone knows that arsenic is a deadly poison and is found in cigarettes too.

I think the British Lung Foundaction website will tell you quite a few things about cannabis, although you only need search "toxins in cannabis" and you will get your answer.

It is proven that cannabis taken short and long term can cause mental health problems.

The NHS will aid any drug addict and assist them to ween themselves off the addiction.

Not sure why or if it is accurate to say that cannabis is the only one in the spotlight.

It is harmful and can cause many different health problems. This is probably the reason why it is illegal although terminally ill cancer patients are prescribed it on the national health for pain relief.

Good luck in realising that users are damaging their health 3 x more quickly than just cigarette smoking.

pretty much all drugs became illegal when prohibition was repealed.....this was to keep everyone working. I consider weed pretty harmless when compared to other drugs...like booze. A certain percentage of every population is going to be worthless, and smoke is an excuse. It is considered a gate way drug, only because when kids smoke and can't get any it's easy to pass off something else...like coke. as far as recreational goes, I would prefer to be in a city with Heads, as opposed to a city with drunks..much more safer for everyone.

someone told me that the Government won't legalise it because they can't tax it...so it's not worth their while...sounds about right too when you look at alcohol being legal and that kills more people than cannabis and as far as I'm concerned alcohol is much more of an anti social drug

I would rather have people who drink around me then people who eat other people. That is disgusting...
I read the paper and watch the news and I have never read or seen articles about cannibalism. Where do you live the jungle...

Cannabis is illegal because it fuks your brain, I personally think its worse than cocaine. I have used both, alot. But not any more. Cannabis turns you into a zombie with no ambition. I have friends that it has made virtually into retards.

Because it can (in some people) cause or worsen mental health problems. However, I agree that it is in the news a disproportional amount.
