talking to an old female friend from high school if you thought your girlfriend might make a big deal out of it? I didn't think I a jealous type - why did he lie about something so silly? Does lying about something like that mean a guy is up to "no good?"

Not necessarily. Like you said, he probably knows his current girlfriend will blow it out of proportion so he decided to keep it quiet.

I hope you don't mind me answering either, I'm not a guy...but if I were, this phrase you mentioned to me would stick out like a possible problem and would avoid it like the plague...

"...I didn't think I a jealous type..." I'm sure you meant to say you don't think of yourself as a jealous type...but there might be a chance that you are.

Any problem that can be avoided, is a problem well solved.

It doesn't mean that at all, he just wanted to spare you any grief if you were to have any, not only that he probably didn't think it was any big deal and didn't want to take a chance of hurting you. Give the guy some slack, your # 1...BUT if you make a big deal of it you may show a side he doesn't care to put up with...men don't want hassle, and do you blame him? Just enjoy what you have.

the lie dosn't mean that he is doing something.....but he probably was thinking about it. even if he wasn't, the fact that he didn't want you to know shows that the heart of the matter was something bad. i think you should realy take this seriously. if anything the only thing to do is to talk to him about it. also you have to consider the fact that you are blowing the whole thing out of proportion. if you are the jealous type that over-reacts, then maybe he was justified in not telling you about something that was truely innocent.

Unfortunately YES. There have been times that I have lied to my wife about little things because she would blow it out of porportions and make it look like something else. Then ridicule me over it. When I am totally innocent. She ask too many questions and forces me to lie because she turns everything around. If I stop at the convenient store, she gets suspicious. So I lie, because I have to lie to her.

No, it doesn't mean he's up to no good, it simply means that whatever his past experiences are, watching his parent's relationship, or with his own, revealing anything of this nature has always had negative results and therefore his attempting to avoid any unpleasantness and unhappiness.

If you truly are not the jealous sort, than let him know, and change his attitude about this... at least with you. ;-)

Did he lie or did he omit. If he lied then he's hiding something, but if he just didn't tell you then he was just avoiding an argument with you. Two different situations. Maybe you get jealous easy.

I think he was afraid that when he tells you about it, you will be mad at him. Thats the reason why he kept it a secret. Let him know that its ok for him to tell you that he is talking to his female friends and that you trust him and you wont get jealous about anything. Of course, as long as he knows his limits / boundaries.

I know this was directed to the men. But, if men would stop ASSUMING we women would get mad...........and be upfront and truthful they might be surprised. I would respect him more for telling me upfront. Sure, I might be a little jealous. But.......to find out that he did this BEHIND my back and lying----that creates MORE of a problem (a bigger problem.....TRUST!)

Could be that he and this girl were more than friends in high school and he didn't want you to get jealous.
