I understand that Hilton Inn ownes Hampton Inns. Do you know anyone who works in Human Resources for one of these companies? If so, I need an e-mail address...so I can file a complaint. I tried looking it up, but I only got one short reply, and that person never answered back again. Any ideas? I'm sure somebody out there must work for one of these places.

If you can't get a good contact with the HR department or customer service. A good way to get their attention is to contact the area chamber of commerce and your local Better Business Bureau. This usually wakes them up and causes them to realize that not everyone wil just fade away in the darkness. Good luck.

If you have a car, it's probably best to avoid staying in San Francisco proper altogether. Even though this means no view, it'll save you from a lot of stress. Parking is difficult AND will easily cost you $40.00 a day at some hotels. The cops also love to hand out fines and there are lots of pedestrians. Some alternatives... Urban: The Oakland Marriott City Center is a short walk from the 12th St. BART station. Easy to get around. It's only a 10-12 minute ride to either San Francisco city center or Berkeley. Parking is abundant, but costs $15.00 a day. Embassy Suites, South San Francisco is close to a Caltrain commuter rail station (but not adjacent). It's a short 15 minute ride, and the train will drop you off at 4th St. and King station near the baseball stadium. From there, you can transfer to the N-Line tram for the city center. Free parking. Hampton Inn Daly City is 1/2 a mile away from the Daly City BART station. Daly City is 15 minutes from the city center. Suburban (further away): Embassy Suites, Pleasant Hill is adjacent to a BART station. The train will get you to Union Square in the city center (Powell St. station) in 40 minutes. Free parking. Holiday Inn Dublin is very close to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station. Free parking. Both Hampton Inn and Best Western Hayward is less than a mile from a BART station as well. Free parking. There are many other hotels/motels -- too numerous to list, and I'm sure many of them are near freeways or trains as well. But hopefully this information will at least give you an idea.

Try writing a letter on paper and mailing it. It will have much more effect than an e-mail, which takes almost no effort.
