(which is a Boxster) that says "My other car is a Porsche". He thinks this is really funny, since my other car IS a Porsche. I am worried that it isn't so funny, but makes me sound like a pretentious tool (which I'm not). What do you think? Funny or not?

I can see where your boyfriend would think something like that is funny, but obviously you aren't so sure or you wouldn't be asking here?
As an "average" person, I'd say that, that sort of license frame is only funny on a really old, beater. So, no, I wouldn't advise putting that on your daily driver, which happens to be a $50k car (according to cars.com). I think it would intimidate some people and they might react in a negative way to that.
I do give you credit for actually thinking about this before doing it. I think that shows that you are indeed not a "pretentious tool", and that you do care about how you might come across to others.

It's kind of silly.. kind of like saying, I knowe my boxster is cheap, but I have a more expensive ride at home! you know? Drive the boxster, love the 911 or whatever other porsche you have, but dont use license plates like that.. just my humble opinion.

I think anyone who own a few porches is a pretentious tool, so do what you want.
It isn't all that funny either to tell the truth, it is actually pretty stupid. If you can afford a bunch of over priced cars, can't you afford to pay someone to come up with better ideas?

Funny, but also a little stuck up. It's like you're saying I have 2 porsches. I'd say go for it.
Note: there is no apostrophe in Porsches.

I think its funny. Who cares what other people think. If you can afford two or more Porsche's then by all means, let people know. You are living the American dream my friend.

As a new Porsche owner, I think it s funny. But, I may go the other way, and get a holder that reads: My other car is a Mustang... and put it on the Porche!
