He took steroids twice! The first time he was caught was 1988 which resulted in a ban for a few years and then he was caught again in 1993 for steroid use and subsequently banned for life! He is no longer allowed to compete!! Though he would be too old to now anyway!!

Benjamin Sinclair "Ben" Johnson CM (born December 30, 1961) is a Canadian former sprinter who enjoyed a high-profile career during much of the 1980s and won 2 Olympic Bronze medals. He was briefly the "fastest man in the world" after winning the 100 m final at the 1988 Summer Olympics in the record time of 9.79 seconds bettering his own world record of 9.83 s set a year earlier at 1987 World Championships in Athletics, but he was disqualified for doping losing the Olympic title and both records.

the year was 1988 just after he won the hundred meter Gold he was disqualified for doping and he had his medal stripped.
