The Lions have too many holes to fill but did ok in the passing department with John Kitna

The Lions should trade their pick to Green Bay, Jacksonville, Philly, Cleveland or a similar team that needs new blood at QB and is only a player or two away from competing for the playoffs (not Philly...They ARE a p/o team but will need a QB soon!)

The Lions should get AT LEAST two first round picks and 2-3 starters in a draft that is RICK in QB talent!

Talent rich QB drafts bring out the high bidders and the #2 pick may never have more value than it does this year with Russell and Quinn sitting out there with "step right in and play" talent!

Very rare to have one player like that in a draft at the QB position much less 2!

You're kidding right? Both qbs had serious pantswettings during the bowls once they actually encountered decent defenses.

And if you think that Brady Quinn and Troy Smith folded when facing very fast, aggressive SEC defenses, then just wait until they go pro and contend with even faster Ds.

So, the Lions could use a really good QB. But neither of those guys are going to do the trick.

A good QB will help but not solve all of the Lions problems. A great example would be Dan Marino. Dan Marino is a hall of famer with great stats but he is lacking a Super Bowl Ring. No one can deny that the Dolphins were a good team but they just couldn't win the big game. It takes more than just a QB to get there. Another example is Big Ben Rothlisburger. He has been credited largely for their Super Bowl win and yet didn't do anything this past season. Why.....because he didn't win it for the Steelers but rather the whole team did. This comes down to the coaching staff as well. I don't keep up with the Lions that much but it is obvious there is a coaching problem. You can replace the players every year but if the coaches aren't doing their job the players are limited.

Not in the next 2 years. They would have to learn a lot in Mike Martz offensive schemes. He requires the QB to make adjustments to the defense he is facing and a rookie and 2nd year QB wont do.

Plus you cannot forget about the horrendous offensive line, porous defensive line and pitiful secondary.

In other words no. QB is not their most pressing need. About the only positions i wouldn't worry about as a lions fan (thankfully i am not) in this order is K, RB and QB. Isn't it just a tiny bit pathetic that I had no choice but to list the K first. Enough said.

The Lions will need more than just a quarterback tobecome a great team. They will also need some linemen help and a better team attitude. You see when a team does not know where they are supposed to be on a certain pla\y and then they leave their playbooks in their lockers then that team needs an attitude adjustment because they do not deserve to win.

The QB isn't really the problem. He's good, but he just made some terrible decisions in some games. The real problem for the Lions is defense. They need a lot of DEFENSE! They've got too much offense, but not enough defense. Offense sells tickets and that's all they may do, but DEFENSE wins games! Defense helps you to protect your quarterback. Without defense, you can't win games and without defense, you will never be able to do what all athletes dream of doing one day: Playing in the BIG GAME!

Not unless one of them plays defense and/or offensive line too.

The Lions need linebackers, interior linemen, and maybe a younger tight end. Kitna really is a serviceable quarterback, when given enough time to throw. Kevin Jones was showing signs of life this season, but he's got durability issues. The O-line can't seem to pass or run-block consistently.

Quinn, Russell or Smith won't fix what's wrong.

As long as Matt Millen is calling the shots the Lions will never be a serious threat. Even Barry Sanders had his fill and retired.
