Yes Ive heard of this it is not good too drink ginger tea while pregnant. They are against this in my culture (Indian) but its good after pregnancy. It is considered as a "hot" food and you should avoid these during pregnancy even though I guess small amounts dont hurt but its better to be safe and keep baby hydrated with the good old regular stuff.
Good luck

Ginger tea is actually recommended early on for morning sickness. The reason it may lead to contractions later on in pregnancy is because it actually causes your system to work more efficiently and as your bowels are relaxed it causes contractions in the uterus. (this is the same theory behind castor oil and spicy foods). Contractions are one thing- labor is another. Many things may bring on contractions, (orgasms, walking, ect.)but until your body is ready to give birth, real labor will not begin.
The good news is that you are term now so the risk of pre-term labor is gone. Tea is fine, in moderation, but stick to decaf. Alot of old-wives-tales people tend to believe because every pregnant woman will eventually give birth. The question is, was it tea or just time? When someone used to tell me "well I did this and it sent me into labor" I always considered it a possible coincidence.
Just go easy on that ginger tea unless you are close to the restroom at all times. (a little experiencial advice!)
Good luck with your upcoming birth!

Yes of course!!!Even with caffeine you can have 300 mg of that a day and be fine.I lived off ginger tea when I was pregnant and sick in the early months.Try ginger chews from nugget market or somewhere like that-there the best to suck on and melt in water so much yummier than the tea bags and no caffeine at all-they really help!

Ginger is also "spicy" that is why you should avoid it. It can irritate your stomach and it will contract. But not your uterus. The only slight problem would be that if your tummy gets irritated by ginger tea and contracts continuously it can affect your uterus since they are lying side by side inside you. Some mistake the contractions as the uterus but it's actually the stomach getting irritated. But as a precaution just try avoiding it for a while.

Well this is what I got for you on ginger tea!
Ginger tea (okay now that you're in labor) can also help you avoid exhaustion.
For morning sickness, several forms of ginger provide relief. A cup of ginger tea, ginger capsules, ginger ale, or ginger cookies can ease the queasiness.
HERBS TO AVOID. Some herbs can cause complications and should not be taken during pregnancy. Uterine contractions can be caused by angelica, lovage, mistletoe, mugwort, tansy, wild ginger, and wormwood. Other herbs to be avoided include cinchona, eucalyptus oil, juniper, ma huang (ephedra), male fern, pennyroyal, poke root, rue, shepherd's purse, and yarrow.
maybe you heard this beacuse wild ginger is on the list of herbs to avoid.
Good luck and congratz

I too am 37 weeks pregnant. I have been drinking regular black tea almost every day - sometimes 2 cups per day. My Dr. told me it was no big deal and I could have as much as I wanted. I asked him because I had read the same thing about tea. I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially at this stage in the game. :)

When I was pregnant I used to drink ginger green tea almost everyday, the ginger is great for upset stomach. My doctor told me there was no problem with drinking this and I gave birth to a very healthy 8lb 13 ounce baby boy. So I say go for it!

Ginger is good for an upset stomach or nausea. My doctor told me to stay away from herbal teas until i am done nursing. There is not enough evidence of the affects of herbs on the baby.

Ive never heard of that either. But at 37 weeks you're safe for delivery either way, its doubtful that drinking some tea would throw you into active labor. If it were that easy, moms at 41-42 weeks gestation would be sucking down gallons of the stuff.
Nothing like that can cause you to fly into labor. Maybe some contractions, but labor is really doubtful.

Everything I've read says it's okay as it's not large amounts, so I would assume that a cup here and there is perfectly fine. Also, I've heard ginger is helpful with nausea and morning sickness and is even recommended by some doctors, so that also leads me to believe that it is okay. If you're still unsure, you should call and ask your doctor.
