Insomnia is horrible and I sympathize with you.
Most meds do have some side effects, trazodone can leave you groggy in the morning, others are addictive. Initially, the product is introduced into the market as non-addictive then, oops a few months later new studies show that they are. Busy mind syndrome is difficult to control; however, there are methods to help you self hypnotize. If not busy mind, then try exercising during the day - jog or long walks.
There are herbs that can make you groggy as well, but talk to your doctor or naturopath before taking anything.
Be well.

Go to your local health food shop and ask about remedies to help with insomnia. There are various herbal remedies you can take that are safe and non habit forming provided you follow the dosage instructions on the bottle. Try cutting down on tea/coffee as they do make you twitchy and restless at night - after a lot of tea you can have an itching sensation which is quite unpleasant.
If it's anxiety that's causing it, you'll have to deal with whatever is bothering you. Good Luck!

Bed sores? Head sores? You would have to be confined to your bed and unable to move on your own to get those. So don't be so dramatic. If you have tried 25-50 mgs. of Benedryl and that didn't work for you, then talk to your doctor. Trazodone is not addictive and is used a lot for sleep.

A sound machine works for me. I got one for Christmas and wasn't so sure about it. But the sounds of the waves or the stream really help to put me to sleep. It's worth a shot!

Use a little Radox sleep spray on your pillow before you go to sleep & never go to sleep on an empty tummy, but don't over do it, eating too much before bed may give you tummy cramps.A hot bath with a little moisturiser before hand should help & make you feel less sore.Try used tea bags on your eyes, they'll work wonders. xxx

I take Tylenol PM and it helps me fall asleep and stay asleep. I don't feel groggy at all the next day. It usually takes at least an hour to kick in.

Passion Flower herb and 5-HTP from your health food store. I have used them one at a time. Don't know about using them together, maybe it would be even more effective.
