Does it actually really bother people? And also the fact that he has come from a partially Muslim background? Do you not think that under the current climate this could be a plus point?

I am more bothered by the fact that Obama is ignoring the people of Illinois who elected him to do his senatorial job

I could care less what his name is, and he isn't from a partial muslim background he is from most of his life muslim background. And I guess that wouldn't matter either if he didn't try to hide this from people. He only attended a Catholic school for 2 years and he makes it sound like it was much more, his Mother was an atheist (that really bothers me) and he was raised by a step father that was devout muslim and he attended many more years in a muslim school than anything else. Also, he only joined the UCC in Chicago because it would further his political career not because he believes what they teach. I don't like the man because he is like every other politician, a liar and a cheat and at some point, I don't care who he is, he will screw the American people somehow....

I don't care what his name is but I think alot of other people really do. Also (regardless of whether it's right or wrong) I don't think that a black man from a partially Muslim background has any chance at all to win a presidential election this country. People that have never voted in their lives will turn out to ensure that it doesn't happen. The polls will look like that Chris Rock movie.

None of that bothers me as much as the bandwagon forming to make him president. I think it demonstrates how badly in need of a real leader we are that so many people would try to recruit a Senator only elected 2 years ago whose only previous experience was as a waffling state legislator. Until Tom Tancredo announced he was forming an exploration committee, there wasn't anyone with an ounce of guts running on either side.

Only racist people are turned off by his name. I think it's cool that he uses his real name with picking an Americanized name. I saw something on the news that using cultural names has negative impacts on finding a job, and that may be true, but it's terrible.

Unless they live in a cave most Americans are aware there are many middle and near eastern sounding names all over this country. One of my physicians is Palestinian-don't ask me to spell his name. I know someone named Yi and I still know a Sonny and a few Bubbas.

names are funny. peopel still name their children john, eveen though john means "man who visits a prostitute" and two presidential assasins (john hinckley, john wilkes booth) were named john.

The fact that some people are bothered by the name just shows they don't know many arabs. Hussein is a very common name for arabs, like "smith".

but I don't see to many adolphs.

His name does not bother me. I voted for him for Illinois senator. I would like to see him finish his term. There is a bill being introduced in Illinois to move our primary date up so it would benefit him if he runs. I dont think it should be moved just for him.

I think it would be a negative. People are very leery of anytghing to do with Muslims because of the Fanatic Muslims in the world today that are bent on killing anything that moves.

I wouldn't think so. I didn't even really think of his name until it brought up in the news. I would think being part muslim should help his chances, since the U.S. has issues with muslim parts of the world.
