Just get a CAT-5 crossover cable.
Open the control panel, network connections.
Open the Local Area Connection
Press Properties
In the scroll list, select Internet protocol (TCP/IP)
Press Properties
Select "Use the following IP Address"
Use IP Address 192.168.1.1 on your computer
Use IP Address 192.168.1.2 on your friend's computer
Use Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 on both computers
Use Default Gateway 192.168.1.2 on your computer
Use Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 on your friend's computer
Click OK
Click OK

It really depends on what kind of game site you're talking about. If you are playing a game like battlefront where you can go online and play other people, you need to make sure you and your husband aren't sharing an IP adress. usually those types of games you have to enter your IP so you can connect to each other.
I would say that from the little bit of information you've given that the first place to start is making sure you know each others IP addresses so you can connect to each other.
You can find your IP by going start-> run-> type command in the run promt-> this will bring an MsDos window up->in the window where the curser begins type ipconfig->press enter-> now you will see where it says ip address........"your ip here"

It might be because you both have the same public IP address (if you use a router to share the connection). It depends on what game you are playing though.

You're playing from the same IP address. The game website thinks it's one person.

Your router makes you both have the same ip address. Some game sites require you to have a unique address.

It is probably because you are on the same ip address it is blocking one to prevent scamming the system by having multiple characters.
If this is the case contact the admins for the game and they may be able to help.

You each have to have your own identity. You have to sign in under your identity, and your hubby has to sign in with his. I cannot think of why it would not work. We also do the same thing, and we never had any problem. If you are on a dial-up, I could see why it would not work, but if you have dsl, or cable, it should work fine..Good Luck..

If you have a broadband router then you probably have the same IP although i don't know how to resolve this. Sorry

rune scape is a great multiplayer game you and your husband can play together. online pool is also another game you can play with other people. try miniclips.com and gamezer.com to play online games.
