Take off the elbow or bend in the bottom of the drain and fish it out. Just need a pair of plyers.

The cap should be smaller than the diameter of the drain pipe. Assuming it's bobbing around down in the trap, just plug the sink, fill it with water to the brim, then pull the plug... essentially flushing it through.

Put some crazy glue on a Q-tip and use it to pull the cap out.

Have you tried you a magnet? Like the long ones mechanics use when they loose a screw in the engine? Or try another magnet and tie it to the end of a piece of string.

stick two little sticks down the drain and push them against the side of the cap, then pull up and it will be on the sticks
