Had lifetime mirror tint applied to the glass windows on my home. Was told the safest thing to clean it with is plain water. Okay, but we are smokers and water doesn't do it. Please, no lectures about quitting smoking (smile)...

I used to do window tinting. We recommended using water with a bit of dish soap in it (like Dawn or something like that). We would put it in a spray bottle and spray down the tinted glass and carefully clean with towels. Something else to use is a bit of a nice smelling shampoo in place of the dish soap. Just add a couple of drops to the spray bottle and now you get a nice smelling cleaner that is tint safe.

Avoid using stuff that has ammonia in it. We used ammonia to remove the tint from windows.

Sorry to say man, but water is your best bet. Almost any type of window cleaner will ruin the film. I would suggest cleaning it with plain water and using newspaper instead of paper towels, or anything else. Trust me, after numerous white glove inspections in the Marines, Windex and newspaper to clean windows. Since you have tint, Water and newspaper.

When my parents installed window tinting, they were told to clean it with baby shampoo and water. It might not work right on your brand, so use a test area first.

ok, i cleaned cars for eight years and have talked to several window tinters, and car cleaning chemical specialist, and they all say the same thing. Glass cleaner is good as long as it does not have Ammonia-D in it. The ammonia breaks apart the glue
