It absolutely is. Do you see people in BMW's and Lexus's lined up buying lotto tickets? If you can do math, you don't play lotto. I think gambling will be the same in 10-20 years and will be a booming industry simply because it is entertainment. People will always want to be entertained.

The lottery in (California, anyway), goes towards the school systems...... I dont believe they take it out of the tax-payer's money.. It pays for itself....... When you win, you have an option to pay up front, when you get your money, or pay at the time you do your regular taxes......... And as far as Gambling Casino's are concerned: I only see Las Vegas(with its miles, and miles of desert all around it), just getting even bigger, until the whole darn state, is just one Big Huge Massive Casino!!! And the same with any other states that have Gambling......

The poor don't have to play the lottery. If your poor you shouldn't be wasting you money, the chance of hitting the lottery is like being struck by lightning 3 times in the same place. As for tax's on lottery winnings its 40% or if you take the lump sum you end up with about 34%.

No one forces anyone to play the lottery or to gamble. I am afraid that most states will legalize gambling as a way to increase revenues.

Well, I have heard it has been called "the stupid tax" because you stand in line and willfully pay it.
Gambling won't ever go away, there are too many billions to be made by the creators of the games.
