I've learnt in my lifetime this far that true beauty is through the eyes of the beholder. Coz the eyes are the window to the soul. And that's prettier and attractive. The soul. Lots of makeup on a girl can't do the trick, nor jelly spikes on the handsome man can't do either. It only matters on how we look in someone's eyes. True beauty lies in our soul. It's just a shame that others wouldnt bother on knowing someone's soul and go for the other thing as such money and power. The modern people of today are very complicated, judgemental, and it makes our search on true beauty be difficult and struggled. But those who search for true beauty, to those who are patient, somewhen sometime true beauty would come in the most unexpected place and time.

I agree with you. I think beauty is relative to who is qualifying it.
To me, beautiful is anything nice to the eyes, to the ears, to the thought, or that makes you feel heart warmed or content.
There are many ways to describe a person as beautiful. He/She could be nice to look at (I'm not gonna fall into stereotypes), or just have the gift of making you happy by the way he/she is or talks. To me, the most beautiful people on Earth are my children: the could not be any extraordinary good looking, smart or cute, but only by looking at them when playing and laughing, they make me feel everything worth the work and it's good to be alive.

I agree............beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. My man to me is handsome, but I have a friend that thinks he is homely. I am beautiful to my fiance and a few choice friends, pretty or cute to other friends (males and females) and yet been called ugly by others. Who knows and who cares if I am or not. As long as my fiance, children and step-son think I am, then that is all that matters to me.

What magazines describe as beautiful is the traditional gender roles for men and women--men are supposed to be strong, tough, handsome. Women are supposed to be skinny, demure, softspoken. Another idea of beauty is in the face---that it's symmetrical and balanced. I think our world has been much to caught up in perfection--it is unattainable because beauty CANNOT be defined! In nature, we cannot deny there are ugly beasts, but they still serve their purpose in the grand scheme of things. Why would we say another human being is worthless and not needed because they are lacking in good looks?

I think it's best to keep it simple, adn wait for a beholder who likes that! Avoid the fashion fads and too much makeup, and elaborate hair. Just wear nice comfy clothes, and be at ease with yourself. I think as long as you like what you see, eventualy someone will come along who likes the same thing! And that way you haven't faked (lied) your wai into a relationship by looking like something you're not. If a guy doesn't like me for who I really am, I don't want him around any way!

You are right. And I think it has to do with the imprinting we have on our parents in some way. Sometimes not.
My meditation teacher told a funny story that illustrated how subjective beauty is. He spoke of this "beautiful" woman with long flowing hair, and soft, perfect hands...but how beautiful is finding one of her hairs in your soup, or nail clippings next to your plate?
I do feel it begins with the inner attributes we want. Over time, if we love the person, that can cover a multitude of physical flaws.
It's all in our minds.

Beauty is the sparkling eye and vivid imagination, promise of something yet to be revealed, and has so many individual definitions as there are human beings .

beauty has many dimensions and can not be defined by just one; it can be visual ,spiritual ,audible for the eyes it is any image or person aesthetically pleasing, for the blind it is a kind or beautiful voice singing . for the soul it can be peace . if you ask what is the physical criteria i would have to say woman for she is a true living incarnation of all the above.

I completely agree. Everyone has different taste. I also think chemistry plays into it. I can see a "perfect specimen" of a man but if I don't feel that "thing" I wouldn't call him beautiful or handsome.

You are very right, but if the person has condfidence that often helps them look good too. Beauty is from the inside out.
