Made a LITTLE mistake with the NuvaRing. Could I be pregnant?

Over the weekend (Saturday, to be exact) my husband and I were "having some fun." Afterward, I went to take a shower and took out my NuvaRing and forgot to put it back in.

I didn't realize the mistake until almost six hours later. However, we were in another city and so it was a total of 10 hours (or possibly more) before I could put it back in.

Now, it's only been three days, but my husband thinks I may be pregnant. My period isn't due for another week and a half and I think it may be too early for a pregnancy test, but I'm not sure, this is the only "oops" we've ever had. I'm having no symptoms, but it's still only been three days.

My husband and I have been talking about kids and so this wouldn't be a bad thing, just a little earlier than planned.

What are the chances that I am pregnant for just leaving the ring out for 10 hours after sex?

I made a "little" mistake with the NuvaRing as well and now I have a beautiful 5 month old son. I was about a week and a half into my 3 wk cycle and the ring came out during sex. It was out for just a few hours but the instructions tell you if it has been out for more than 3 hours to use another form of protection for the next week. If you have had unprotected sex anytime within the past 3 days then your chances are pretty good that you will get pregnant. The best thing to do it wait. Go ahead and take the ring out as scheduled and if you don't start you period in the week that it is out then go ahead and take a test.

If NuvaRing® is out of the vagina for more than three continuous hours: During Weeks 1 and 2: If the ring has been out of the vagina for more than three continuous hours during the 1st or 2nd week of use, contraceptive effectiveness may be reduced. Reinsert ring as soon as you remember and use an extra method of birth control, such as male condoms or spermicide, until the ring has been used continuously for seven days.

During Week 3: If NuvaRing® slips out of the vagina for more than three continuous hours during the 3rd week of the three-week use period, throw the ring away and choose one of the following two options.

1. Insert a new ring immediately. Inserting a new ring will start the next three-week use period. You may not experience a period from your previous cycle. However, breakthrough spotting or bleeding may occur

It is so funny that you asked this question. My best friend was having issue with her ring. If came out and she didn't notice till about a day later. And be hold she is pregnant....she wasn't all that happy at first...now she is very excited so it is very possible.

The chances? I have no idea... but i do know that if you ARE pregnant get that ring out now because it can cause defects and/or miscarriage on it's own. Same as taking B/C pills while pregnant, or the Depo shot etc.

CONDOMS ARE NOT 100% EFFECTIVE, AND NEITHER IS BIRTH CONTROL!

take a pregnancy test today, and again in 3 days. they detect hormones present only during pregnancy, so a false negative during the early stages is common enough, but a false positive is very rare.
