They will eat rosie reds and small gold fish, they will not eat hot dogs flake food red meat these have already been suggested and tried. They are now 4 to 5 inches long and doing well, but I can't keep enough rosie reds and small gold fish in there, Larger than a inch and a half rosie reds or gold fish they just kill, and causes a constant watch to clean uneaten foods out for fear of bacteria.

You should not be feeding them only live fish... this will result in an unbalanced diet and malnutrition.
Your piranhas are spoiled :) They are refusing to eat anything other that live fish because that's what they want to eat (like kids refusing to eat their peas). What you must do now is cease feeding live fish and start feeding a variety of other foods. They will get hungry enough to eat; they won't let themselves starve.
So, try shrimp, night crawlers, worms, flakes, pellets, etc. Do not feed them processed human foods like bologna or hot dogs, though, as these are excessively salty and bad for anything's health.
Feed them little bits at a time, and don't give them anything else if they refuse it, until their next meal time. As I say, they'll get hungry enough to eat, eventually.

I would not feed any of my cichlids live fish. You have to realize that nutritional value is a major concern for feeding fish and live fish just do not sustain enough nutrients for these fish to be actually healthy on. Because a good feeding response is one of the criteria that most of us use to decide whether or not a fish is healthy, this is an important thing for any pet shop to be able to demonstrate to us as potential buyers. So, adding feeder fish to a tank of Oscars or Pacu is one of the best sales techniques available to a retailer, this is the main reason fish stores feed live fish, but the majority probably feed a variety of flakes also. Your Pacu are probably just acustomed to the taste of live fish and do not like flakes but a good alternative is frozen foods which are really one of the best foods for captive fish and are close to the same thing.

Rosie reds and gold fish can get expensive to feed and they will also dirty your water alot faster. In the pet store that I work in they have a freezer with frozen blood worms, brine shrimp, beef heart and a bunch of others. I used them with my piranhas and also fed them frozen krill(looks like little shrimps) and it worked alot better then the mess of feeder fish! good luck!

rosy reds and goldfish do not have enough nutrition to keep them healthy anyway. I have heard or people feeding them live mice and rats. I wouldn't reccommend it though. It can foul your water real quick.

Frozen foods like bloodworms and shrimp should work great, and are relatively cheap.
