does anybody remember a song in the UK charts in the 70's (76/77 i think) that was a mickey take of all the murder mystery detectives, i.e columbo, macmillan, frank cannon etc. the guy did all the impressions himself. would have been in the charts round about the time of the wurzels.... sad i know, but would just like to know its title.

Yes dsw is right it was King of the Cops by Billy Howard.

i do remember this and can picture it clearly but don't remember the title at the moment you got my brain going into overdrive cheers for that !!!
ahh i think it was called king of the cops based on the song king of the road phewwww

It was Billy Howard, 'King of the Cops', and it was the tune from 'King of the Road'

could have been the Grumbleweeds,they did stuff like that in the 70s
