Absolutely NO to both, here's why.

Read a history book. Killing is part of the human make-up, regratably. If there were no guns, than we'd fight wars with swords, bows and arrows, in the same way that humans fought for millenia before the inventiong of the gun.

Or get rid of weapons entirely, wait you can't, because the human body can be used as a weapon (martial arts) as can ANYTHING including PILLOWS. The problem lies with people not with the tools involved. I use a gun to hunt, and yes some people with jobs hunt for all the meat they need for a year, so they are still vital to many people I know.

there will always be conflict and resolution but before anything can be resolved there must be a war whether its a world war or being at war with ones self. since the first human picked up a rock there have been weapons if there were none it would not change the fact that the human race is savage in its raw nature the truth is we arose as savage beast's and became intelligent and the more intelligent we have become the more we excelled at making weapons to harm others, if there were no tyranny in the world the world harmony would exist but as long as wealth is to be made weapons will continue to to be made

Ha ha, gun didn't bring death, they only made death more civilized and humane. Before guns, people would have to hack each other to death will dull strips of metal.

If you think about all guns have done:

-no normal person studies sword warfare anymore- it's useless and trivial- and most people will never study gun shooting more than a few hours (if that in their life time)- giving them more time for other things.

-Guns can quickly kill a leader and spare all the men.

-guns can be used by old ladies

-guns are just like the sling shots you love, but much much faster.

The firearm was a useful invention in its time. It helped humans to hunt food sources. But that time has passed, and the gun should pass with it as it is no longer an essential part of survival. It never really was a boon to survival.
Humans want control, or an illusion of control, so guns will exist. World peace was possible at one time, but we now have reached critical mass in population and ideals that are in opposition. Ridding the world of guns is a step towards peace. Highly unlikely that it could occur, but it is a move towards a better understanding.

No we wouldn't live in harmony in there weren't guns.
But at least we wouldn't see a coward with a gun causing deaths of people much better and more brave than him.
War and fighting used to involve honor, but not anymore.

Here's the thing, guns don't kill people, people kill people. Even if there were no guns, like prehistoric times and medieval times before gun powder was invented by the Chinese, people were still killing each other. So it isn't the guns that we need to get rid of, it's ignorance and one guy wanting everyone else to accept their ideals and way of life. And, as long as there is one person who wants everyone to think, act, live, pray etc. the same way they do we will never live in complete harmony. Nice thought though....

Huh... I don't know, it didn't take guns to take down 3 flights on 911 did it? People that are of the mind set to kill, are going to kill no matter what.. I realize that is a very sad statement to make, but it is true. Harmony, is something that comes from within, people have to want it.. Projecting harmony and peace from within is a good start, I'd like to think it would be contagious.

We would have to take away guns and all weapons to begin to achieve harmony. To live in harmony, we have to change the heart of man. We have to destroy the desire in man to kill/harm one another. Eliminating weapons would cut down on the killings but a true change must come from within.

there is no way we can live longer in harmony. To take away guns puts us in the bottom of the food chain. We would actually live less and in the run all the time. the very first weapons were tools such as knifes, swords, picks and sticks.

If there were no guns then people would use knives, swords or axes to kill one another. There are just some members of the population who enjoy killing other human beings. I am not sure that we humans could ever live in harmony.
