I am 26 and am applying to go to university this year. The application requests that I list all my qualifications and their examining bodies, however I cannot remember the examining bodies and no longer have the certificates. I am trying to find out how I can get this information.

Contact your school, they may still have records of which examining boards they used that year.

i agree that contacting the school you went to - or the local authority they were under is the easiest option to get you started. you must bear in mind that some exam boards have changed names or merged together since then. once you have information from your school ask them if the exam boards are still operating under the same trading names, if they can't help you further phone your local college (a major one - not a small training provider) and ask to speak to someone from their exams department to see if they can help you trace the exam boards you need.
Other than that, if you get no joy from your old school then try contacting the major examination boards
Edexcel http://www.edexcel.org.uk/about/contact/
AQA (AQA was formed following mergers between the Associated Examining Board (AEB), The Joint Matriculation Board (JMB) and the Northern Examinations and Assessment Board (NEAB) and southern examination group SEG) http://www.aqa.org.uk/contact.html
OCR (formerly Midland Examination Group) http://www.ocr.org.uk/contact_us/contactus.html
i hope this helps you!

I agree with teary chocolate. The school should be able to provide you with the relevant contact details too.
