I have a daughter turning 4 at the end of this month and am also in the middle of planning a party.

I would be careful about what kind of pinata you choose. We did a Barney brithday for my older daughter when she turned 4 and got a Barney pinata. She got VERY upset at us hitting Barney. Ever since, when we do pinata's, I get generic shapes and flowers, not figurines.

If you're doing any kind of princess/girly theme, my girls got a big kick out of have a big box full of dress up stuff (all the parents brought a couple of things to add to the box & then took their's home when they left). Even the boys had fun dressing up and acting out stories.

A change of pace on the Pin the Tail of the Donkey that my kids like is that I make it themed. Depending on the theme of the party, I print something of them computer (to make it large enough for the game takes several sheets of paper that you have to glue together), and pick a piece of the picture to make copies of and have them pin on. For example: At halloween, we pinned the nose on the Jack-O-Lantern. For Teletubbies, we pinned the TV screen onto La La's tummy. Stuff like that. Puts a new twist on an old game.

The below links are places I have found some ideas for crafts and such that kids seem to really like. And DLTK has really easy ones that my almost 4-year-old has no problem with.

Also, if you're having a specific theme, check out some local party stores for some game ideas to fit the theme.

Why are you nonetheless obsessing over a occasion that variety into 5 months in the past? Has something befell to make you experience which you're being ostracized to your loss of occasion savvy? if so, do not hassle approximately it any extra. If somebody had a project with their newborn not getting a occasion choose, ( regrettably there are people who're very judgmental and picture that everybody has a duplicate of their very very own very own variety of etiquette of their pocket), purely shrug it off and chalk it as much as undesirable manners on their area, not yours.

Try this - give everyone a small pinata that they can have and break it open or not. This will be more fun than one big one.
