(36 + 12X + X^2) +X^2 = 100
36 + 12X + 2X^2 = 100
div by 2,
18 + 6X + X^2 = 50
X^2 + 6X -32 = 0
X = 3.4031, -9.4031.

(6+x)^2 + x^2 = 100
move 100 to other part:
(6 +x)^2 +x^2 - 100 = 0;
if you have (a+b)^2 use this: (a+b)^2 = a^2 +2*a*b + b^2:
36 + 12*x + x^2 + x^2 - 100 = 0;
2*x^2 + 12*x - 64 = 0

You can multiply with 1/2 the left and the right side fom de =
:
x^2 + 6*x - 32 = 0

For calculating delta use this: delta = b^2 - 4*a*c
for : a*x^2 + b*x + c = 0

So
delta = 6^2 - 4*1*(-32) = 36 + 128 = 164

x1 = -b + sqrt(delta)/ 2*a
x2 = -b - sqrt(delta)/ 2*a

So
delta = 2*2*41
sqrt(delta) = 2*sqrt(41)

x1 = (-6 + 2*sqrt(41))/2 = -3 + sqrt(41) (multiply with 2)
x2 = (-6 - 2*sqrt(41))/2 = -3 -sqrt(41) (multiply with 2)
Thats all :)

(6+X)^2+X^2=100
36+12x+X^2+X^2=100
2X^2+12x-64=0
x^2+6x-32=0
x=-3+sqrt(41) and x=-3-sqrt(41)
x=3.40312 and x=-9.40312
