6 times 0.4f = 2.4f
6 times 0.2g = 1.2g
+ 0.5f
2.4f +0.5f = 2.9f
so your answer is 2.9f + 1.2g
b/c f and g can not be added together

If f and g are just variables and this is a straight expression that just needs to be simplified, all you have to do is distribute the 6 and multiply 6 times 0.4f which gives you 2.4f and 6 times 0.2g which gives you 1.2g. Then rewrite using these results and including the last term. This would be '2.4f + 1.2g + 0.5f'.
Just add the like terms 2.4f and 0.5f so you have 2.9f. add the 1.2g to that and your answer is 2.9f + 1.2g.

6(0.4f+0.2g)+0.5f

First you deal with what's in the parenthesis.
Using the distributive property you multiply out the "6"
(6 * 0.4f) + (6* 0.2g) ........ + 0.5f
you get
2.4f + 1.2g + 0.5f

then combine like terms (terms with the same letter)
2.4f + 0.5f +1.2g
which gives you

2.9f + 1.2g

6(0.4f+0.2g)+0.5f
I'm not sure what the question is but I can simplify the above expression to be:
2.4f +1.2g +,5 f
= 2.9f +1.2g

I am assuming that this is a standard variable question...

Multiply through then add "like" terms. For example:
8(2a + 3b) + 3a = 16a + 24b + 3a = 19a + 24b

If this is not a standard math question and is part of a greater function, the rest needs to be given.
