I have a 2003 Tahoe. I was letting it run because it has been cold and I have not driven it in a while. I was stupid and forgot about it, and the truck ran out of fuel and the battery died. Now it will not even turn over. Is there a reset for the fuel pump or anything I should check. Again, it is not turning over at all! Hope someone can help with this! Thanks!!!

I put gas in it and I charged the battery over night. I just wonder if there is a fuel pump reset or something. Not sure what the deal is

Now that you put fuel in it and charged the battery does it turn over??? GM does not have a fuel reset bottom or anything of the sort!!!If it still will not turn over Do you have good light and if the lights are on when you crank it do they go dim??? If lights dim when cranking then you need to find out if the engine will turn over by hand . Put a socket on the crank pulley bolt and try to roll the engine over. I hope it does if it does not you seized the engine . If it does then you need to look at the wiring to the starter for powers on the main wire and switching power on the solenoid wire. The smaller wire is the solenoid wire and needs to be tested with the key in the start position. If its anything more tow it to a shop to have it looked at. Good luck hope I helped

Well difinitely start by making sure theres fuel in it now. Then either recharge the battery or replace it. If you get nothing then contact a shop or the dealer. Most fuel reset switches usually won't go off when you run out of gas. Look in you owners manual for the location and check it. It just sounds like you need a new battery. Good Luck

It sounds like you have a battery drain. A lot of times these are caused by an interior light being left on. Did you check the rear cargo light or the switch for the rear tail gate or glass. Also check the vanity lights in the sunshades and the glove box light for going out. The only way to properly check for a drain is to install an ammeter into the positive battery post and battery while the truck is turned off with no lights on whatsoever. You can do this with the negative post as well, but not both. After a certain amount of time the battery draw should drop to around 10mA. If it doesn't, you have a draw and you will have to start unplugging fuses to determine which circuit is doing the drawing. Then you will have to diagnose this circuit to find what is actually on or shorted on. Good luck, these can be a bear to find.

You should not have burned the pump out, as when it did run out of fuel, it would kill the engine which would then kill the power to the pump. Put some gas and a battery in it and get back to us.

If you drained the battery completly and if it's cold enough to freeze then the battery may be useless, if it dosn't turn over I would take the battery in and have it load tested, most autoparts stores will do this for you at no charge.
Does the headlamps work with the battery, does the engine make any attempt to turn over at all, maby burned a fuse, relay or breaker when it was jumped.

Did you put fuel in it? When you put the new battery in, are you sure it was charged?

if it is not turning over then the battery is dead ( step 1 ) or the starter ( step 2 ) or you still have it in gear and the safety switch is preventing it ( not a step just an oops )
